Privacy Policy

Little Learners Dayhome (“we”, “us”) is a home-based childcare program in Evanston, Calgary, approved under The Mangrove Tree Dayhome Agency, a licensed family day home agency contracted with Alberta's Ministry of Education and Childcare. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We take your family's privacy seriously and only collect what we need to respond to your enrollment inquiry.

Scope. This policy covers only information you provide through this website (primarily the enrollment inquiry form). If you decide to enroll a child after your inquiry, a separate written enrollment agreement explains how information is shared during enrollment with The Mangrove Tree Dayhome Agency and Alberta's Ministry of Education and Childcare for licensing, monitoring, and subsidy purposes. That enrollment information flow is governed by the enrollment agreement, not by this website policy.

What we collect

When you fill out the enrollment inquiry form on this site, you choose what to share with us. The form asks for:

  • Parent or guardian name, email address, and phone number
  • For each child you are inquiring about: first name, last name, date of birth, desired start date, the days of the week you need care, and your preferred drop-off and pick-up times

Beyond the information you enter, our website and the analytics services described below may automatically collect limited technical information such as IP address, device type, and pages visited. We do not buy or receive personal information about you or your child from any other source. The Mangrove Tree Dayhome Agency does not receive your inquiry form submission. The agency receives family information during the enrollment process, under the separate enrollment agreement.

Why we collect it

We use the information you provide for one purpose only: to respond to your inquiry about enrolling a child in our dayhome. That includes replying by email or phone, confirming whether a space is available for your requested days and ages, arranging a meet-and-greet, and walking you through the subsidy application if you ask about it.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We only share what is needed with service providers that help operate the website or deliver inquiry emails, as described below. By submitting the inquiry form, you consent to our collection and use of your information as described in this policy.

How it is stored and for how long

Form submissions are delivered to Little Learners Dayhome at littlelearnersevanston@gmail.com through Resend, a transactional email service. The website does not keep its own database of submissions; once delivered, your inquiry is held in the email systems used to receive and manage it.

We keep inquiry emails only as long as we need them to respond to you and follow up. If you do not enroll, your inquiry email is deleted within twelve months of your last contact with us. If you do enroll, your inquiry becomes part of the enrollment record governed by the separate enrollment agreement you sign at that time.

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold.

Third-party services

This website relies on a small number of trusted third-party services. Each one only sees the information it needs to do its job:

  • Vercel hosts the website. Vercel may log technical request data such as IP address, browser type, and page visited for security and performance reasons.
  • Resend delivers inquiry form submissions to Little Learners Dayhome by email. Resend processes the contents of your submission only long enough to deliver the email.
  • Google Ads and Google Analytics 4 (loaded through Google Tag Manager) help us measure how people find and use the site and whether our ads are reaching local families. These services may set cookies in your browser and collect information such as IP address, device type, pages visited, and referral source, and may be used for remarketing to people who have previously visited the site. You can opt out through Google Ads Settings and your browser's cookie controls.
  • Meta Pixelmay be used to measure the performance of Facebook or Instagram ads if and when we run them. Like Google's services, Meta Pixel may set cookies and collect device and page data, and may be used to build audiences for retargeting. You can manage Meta ad preferences through Meta Ad Preferences and your browser's cookie controls.

Each of these providers has its own privacy practices that govern how it handles the information it sees. We list them here so you can review their policies if you wish.

Some of these service providers process or store information outside Canada, including in the United States. Information processed in another country may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, or regulators there.

Cookies and tracking

A cookie is a small file that a website stores in your browser. Our own website does not set cookies for you to log in or save preferences. The third-party services listed above may set cookies for analytics and advertising measurement. You can clear or block cookies at any time through your browser's settings, and most browsers let you opt out of cross-site tracking entirely.

Children's privacy

The enrollment inquiry form is intended for parents and guardians, not for children. We do not knowingly collect information directly from a child through this website. The child information collected by the form (name, date of birth, schedule) is provided by the parent or guardian filling out the form on the child's behalf, and is used only to determine whether we can offer a space for that child.

Canadian law

We operate in Alberta, Canada. Our handling of personal information is governed by:

  • The federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), where it applies; and
  • Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), which governs private-sector handling of personal information in this province.

We do not target visitors outside Canada and do not knowingly collect information from people subject to other privacy regimes such as the EU GDPR or California CCPA.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct it if it is wrong
  • Ask us to delete it
  • Withdraw your inquiry at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email us at littlelearnersevanston@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable time, normally within thirty days. There is no charge for these requests.

If you are not satisfied with our response to a privacy concern, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada where federal jurisdiction applies.

Policy changes

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a new third-party service or change how long we keep inquiry emails. When we do, we update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. That date is the effective date of the current version. We encourage you to check this page periodically.
